Why Newcastle?

Newcastle was leading the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century with heavy industries like coal mining and ship building. The city has now mainly turned to retail and service. A great example of the success of retail is the Metro Centre situated in Gateshead. It is the largest shopping centre in the UK with an impressive 2 million square feet of retail floor space. Now that’s a lot of surface to keep clean! With shops, restaurants, a cinema and amusement arcades, it has everything you could possibly need.

The city is also investing to attract businesses from other areas. Newcastle University partnered with the City Council to create a business park located right next to St James Park called Science Central. Newcastle is also a major hub for air travel and is easily accessible by train. All this helps businesses flourish around the city and increases the need for hygiene services.

On top of that, Newcastle is considered one of the best cities for a night out thanks to the many pubs, bars and restaurants with a large variety of cuisine styles. It was crowned Britain’s number 1 tourist attraction in The Rough Guide to Britain. The city also boasts other great attractions such as theatres, museums, concert venues and the legendary Newcastle United football club.
