Water Saving
Each person in the UK uses 150 litres of water a day. This takes into account cooking, cleaning, washing and flushing. This has been rising by 1% a year since 1930. This consumption level is not sustainable in the long-term. Source: Waterwise Organisation If we do not take action now, climate change, population shifts and behaviour mean the UK will face increased water stress in the future.
It is estimated that businesses in the UK waste in excess of 300 Million litres of water every day and most of this is through the washrooms. OFWAT propose that each company should have an equal target of saving one litre of water per property per day through approved water efficiency activity, and that this target should initially be in place for five years. BREEAM Offices assessment suggests minimising the consumption of potable water in sanitary applications by encouraging the use of low water use fittings. Water consumption figures are determined and calculated as part of the process.
